Last week, Primary 2 students captivated their audience with a special assembly dedicated to the culture, history, and traditions of New Zealand. As part of their inquiry-based learning, they explored the country’s rich heritage, from its indigenous Māori roots to its modern-day customs.
Through research and creative collaboration, the students prepared an informative presentation, which they proudly shared with their peers, teachers, and parents. They introduced key aspects of New Zealand’s geography, famous landmarks, and the importance of Māori culture in shaping the nation’s identity. The students explained the significance of traditional customs such as the hongi, a greeting where people press their noses together, and the haka, a ceremonial dance performed to express strength and unity.
A major highlight of the assembly was the performance of tribal dances, including Aotearoa, inspired by the movements and rhythms of the Māori people. Their performance was met with enthusiastic applause, as they demonstrated confidence, teamwork, and a deep appreciation for the culture they had studied.
Well done to Primary 2 for their dedication and enthusiasm in bringing New Zealand’s culture to the H-FARM International School community!
