Did you know that bees communicate with each other by dancing? Our Lower Secondary 1 students uncovered the complex social structure of bees and discovered the crucial role of teamwork within the hive, illustrating how collective efforts lead to meaningful results.

In this experience, students learned about the challenges faced by bees, such as habitat loss, climate change, and pesticides. This underscores the need for sustainable practices to safeguard bee populations. This trip was part of the “Scuola Amica delle Api” project, which was launched starting from the 21-22 school year. This project aligns with the UN 2030 Agenda and emphasizes sustainable practices to address challenges like habitat loss and climate change, aiming to protect bee populations.

The day ended on a sweet note as our students tasted various honeys like Wildflower, Chestnut, and Acacia. Each variety, distinct in flavor and color, serves as a reminder that honey is a precious natural resource. This tasting session taught them that honey’s diversity reflects the rich biodiversity of the ecosystems that bees inhabit and pollinate.
