To honor Holocaust Remembrance Day, Lower Secondary students at H-FARM International School Rosà took part in meaningful projects to deepen their understanding of this tragic chapter in history. Through creative activities and research, they paid tribute to Holocaust victims and survivors while reflecting on the importance of empathy, tolerance, and peace.
One of the key projects involved recreating stumbling stones—small plaques that mark the last known residences of Holocaust victims. By researching personal survivor stories, students formed a deeper connection to history, learning about the resilience and suffering of those who endured the horrors of concentration camps. This project highlighted the importance of preserving these stories for future generations.
Another activity was the creation of a remembrance tree, made from cardboard with paper leaves bearing students’ reflections. Each message expressed hope, remembrance, and a commitment to a more compassionate world. The tree became a powerful symbol of their shared dedication to keeping history alive and standing against injustice.
A particularly moving moment came when a student’s parent shared her family’s personal connection to the Holocaust. She spoke about her grandfather, a survivor of the Mauthausen concentration camp, recounting his struggles, courage, and perseverance. Her story left a deep impact, sparking discussions on the importance of remembrance and the ongoing fight against discrimination and hatred.
H-FARM International School remains committed to fostering respect, compassion, and historical awareness. Holocaust Remembrance Day is not just about looking back—it’s a reminder of our responsibility to build a future rooted in understanding and unity. Through these projects and discussions, the school community reaffirmed its dedication to ensuring that history’s lessons continue to guide us toward a more just and inclusive world.
