What if penguins could take to the skies? And imagine if there's a secret basement lurking beneath our school? No worries, though – we've got it all in check! Our Primary 5 crew explored the world of fake news during Safer Internet Weekteaming up with Mr. Ruggero Cortese, our Digital Learning Coach. The class aimed to encourage children to reflect on howto use the internet and new technologies consciously, while fostering awareness of each individual's active and responsible role.

So, how do you truly understand the danger of misinformation? You get hands-on, of course! Thanks to the use of AI tools and a big dose of imagination, our students were able to craft compelling articles of newly discovered animals, secret dance parties in school, and even outlawed car thefts! With a touch of storytelling and a professional template, our students-journalists created a newspaper that could trick even the most knowledgeable person!

Understanding how the world of digital information works is essential to becoming responsible citizens of the world.Firstly, students learned how to find information online and assess its credibility. Following that, they studied the characteristics that might make a piece of information suspicious: an attractive and too-good-to-be-true title, a surprising or shocking topic, and a misleading image or photo.

As we call it a day, our students are armed with knowledge and creativity, ready to be the savvy digital citizens our world needs!
