Our Reception students took their first steps into the world of coding this week in an engaging and interactive session led by our Digital Learning Coach. Through a hands-on activity, the young learners discovered the fundamentals of movement and direction—key concepts in coding.

Using a large grid created on the floor, the children worked together to give and follow directions, helping them understand sequencing and logical thinking. By instructing their peers to move forward, turn left, or step right, they experienced how computers follow step-by-step commands, mirroring the way programming languages work.

This exciting introduction to coding not only developed their problem-solving and teamwork skills but also laid the foundation for computational thinking from an early age. It was wonderful to see our youngest learners confidently navigating the activity and enjoying their first taste of coding.
