On October 10th, the Reception and Primary 1 classes had the incredible opportunity to visit Nonno Andrea’s Pumpkin Village in Villorba (TV). It was a day full of discovery, learning, and hands-on fun, where our youngest students got a close look at the beauty and importance of nature.
As soon as the children arrived at the farm, their eyes lit up with excitement. The vibrant colors of autumn surrounded them, with fields full of pumpkins and other seasonal crops creating a stunning backdrop. Throughout the visit, the children were guided through the pumpkin fields, learning about the life cycle of plants and how each season brings its own special produce. They were introduced to the process of growing pumpkins, from seed to harvest, and explored the diverse plants that thrive during the autumn months. Watching their fascination grow with every new fact was a joy to witness.
One of the highlights of the day was the creative workshops, where the children got their hands dirty in the most delightful way. They participated in pumpkin decorating activities, and their enthusiasm was contagious as they carefully crafted their own unique designs. These workshops weren’t just about creativity; they also fostered the children’s scientific curiosity, as they learned about the structure of pumpkins and the importance of sustainable farming practices.
The visit also encouraged the children to think about sustainability and the role we all play in protecting the environment. They learned about the value of locally-grown produce and how making mindful choices in what we eat can help support both our health and the planet. It was a powerful lesson, delivered in a way that was both accessible and engaging for their young minds.
We are so proud of how engaged and curious our students were, and we look forward to more opportunities like this to bring them closer to the world around them!
